Farm Logbook - SOS Aphids
Many regions have suffered severe frosts in recent days and some crops have been badly affected, we are thinking of market gardeners, winegrowers, arboriculturists and all the others. Predictable you might say, but it is the mild spell last week that caused the plants to bud that is causing the problem. In seed production, as far as we are concerned, we are in no rush to plant seed-bearing plants. Our tunnels are obviously not heated, so we are planting late to avoid the last frosts that are common in our regions. We remind you that we must avoid planting before the Ice Saints (May 11, 12, 13), the dates of the last frosts. We thank our horticultural friends who are lending us their greenhouses for our sowing before planting.
