annual

Fast-growing climbing plant adapted to warm climates, annual in our climates. Bears small white flowers in compact clusters, which turn into dark purple pea-shaped fruits. The leaves are eaten raw, lightly cooked, sautéed, or in an infusion. The fruits are used as a coloring in pastries. Enjoys full sun, warm, humid locations in rich, well-drained soil. A minimum temperature of 15°C is necessary for its development. Can reach 4 to 6 meters. Water daily in case of extreme heat or drought.

Sowing

Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours. Sow in pots in March-April, and keep warm for 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting in mid-May.

Harvest

From June-July, leaves and young shoots are harvested as needed.
50 g per 1000 plants.

Epinard de Malabar

Je recommande la culture de Baselle ou épinard de Malabar pour le consommer en tant qu'épinard, ou utiliser que quelques feuilles pour épaissir les sauces ou autre.
