A climbing perennial with fragrant pink flowers, growing from June to August, reaching at least 60 cm in height. Plant in dry soil and sunny exposure. It has been cultivated as a root vegetable since the 17th century. Its tubers are delicious.

Sowing : in spring in pockets of 3 to 5 seeds spaced 40 to 50 cm apart. Top up during the season to encourage tuber formation close to the surface.
