Description

Biennial herbaceous plant, with long, narrow, deeply divided leaves, which can reach a height of 5 to 35 cm. Very common in nature, plantain is often found alongside nettles, and nature is so well made that plantain will be very effective in soothing a nettle burn. Bio-indicator plant of heavy, compact, and asphyxiated soils. Birds will feed on plantain seeds in winter. Its young, very tender leaves are used raw in salads, like young shoots and mescluns, or cooked as vegetables. They are rich in vitamin C and iron. Plantain is also a medicinal plant with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and immunomodulatory properties. Sowing: from March to September, in a sunny location because the seeds need light to germinate. Keep 15 cm between plants. Harvest all year round, as needed.
