Description

Valerian is a perennial plant that can grow up to 1.5 m in height, medicinal and ornamental . It likes fresh and humid soils. The pinkish-white flowers , fragrant and very melliferous, appear from the second year, between May and July . It is said to have sedative and calming properties, helping to regulate sleep disorders. It is also very melliferous .

In the fall, the roots of plants that are at least 3 years old are harvested. After drying, they are used as an infusion or by cold maceration .

It can be used as catnip , but be careful not to give too much.
