AKEBIA LONGERACEMOSA AB - PLANT
Akebia longeracemosa
Akebia longeracemosa, commonly known as the long-stalked akebia, is a climbing plant distinguished by its purple flowers, which appear from May to July. These flowers, with a delicate vanilla scent, bring a touch of exoticism to the garden.
Its light and elegant semi-evergreen foliage is ideal for screening shady areas, such as a wall or fence. During the summer, this plant produces swollen bean-shaped fruits, grouped in twos or threes, but only if it benefits from cross-pollination with another species such as Akebia trifoliata. When ripe, these fruits split open to reveal a sweet, gelatinous pulp around the seeds.
