The leaves are eaten young like spinach leaves before the plant flowers. The seeds are used like millet. They are often grown as ornamentals for their foliage and flowers. Sowing: very thinly in April/May, in rows spaced 40 cm apart, in a sunny location, in loose, deep, humus-rich and fresh soil, thinning to 30 cm. Regular watering. Mulching is recommended in case of drought. Very resistant to difficult climatic conditions and easy to grow, young leaves to be eaten early in the season.
