Aronia , also known as black chokeberry or chokeberry , is a fruit-bearing shrub in the Rosaceae family, known for its black berries rich in antioxidants and nutrients. It is increasingly cultivated for its health benefits and use in cooking.

Harvest :

Aronia berries are ready to be harvested in late summer or early fall, usually around September . They should be picked once they are fully ripe, when their color is deep black and they easily detach from the stems. The berries can be eaten fresh, but they are often used once processed into preserves or juice due to their slightly astringent flavor. Aronia berries are extremely rich in anthocyanins , a type of antioxidant, as well as vitamin C , vitamin K , fiber , flavonoids , and tannins . Because of this nutritional richness, aronia is often considered a superfood .
