BEETROOT BURPEES GOLDEN AB
Beta vulgaris
The Burpees Golden beet is a beautiful heirloom American beet with a round, golden-yellow root and exquisite flavor. The flavor of this beet is reminiscent of traditional red varieties, but with hints of honey.
This variety retains its golden yellow flesh and sweet, mild flavor when cooked.
The tender green leaves are eaten in salads or like spinach.
Successful sowing of beetroot Burpees golden
Sow from April/May, spaced 5 cm apart in the row, in loose, rich, deep soil, in a sunny location at a depth of around 1 cm and water well.
Thin out every 20 cm to encourage the growth of the most vigorous plants.
Regular hoeing and weeding are essential. Water regularly to promote uniform growth and prevent bolting. Mulch in case of drought.
Good associations
Beets like to be near kohlrabi, lettuce, onions, and bush beans.
Beet harvest
Harvest approximately 3 and a half months after sowing.
