Description

Formerly cultivated as a vegetable and condiment , borage is now making a comeback in our gardens.
Very melliferous , borage is an annual plant 30 to 60 cm high with blue flowers very appreciated by pollinators and interesting in cooking . Indeed, it is useful for improving pollination in the orchard and the apiary , and is used in salads , cooked like spinach , in infusion or as a decoration for dishes . It repels slugs and smothers weeds .
Its blue flowers appear from April to September , or even earlier if you live in the south . Borage grows very quickly, which is why we recommend staggering your sowing . It will probably reseed itself.

Borage is also interesting for its benefits on the skin , its diuretic and expectorant properties .

How to successfully sow borage

Sowing : from March to June in fresh , deep soil, in a sunny location.
Thin to 30 cm when plants have a few leaves.
Bury after 2 months of vegetation .
Dose : 30 g per 100 m² .

Soil improver is a crop that is dug in to enrich and fertilize the soil. It improves its structure and is a source of humus and nitrogen . It eliminates or reduces weeds. It is sown broadcast, the seeds are covered superficially. Mow it as soon as its vegetation is sufficiently developed, do not let it go to seed, mulch it with a mower and incorporate it into the soil.
