BIG-HEADED CENTAURY AB
Centaurea macrocephala
Amazing hardy perennial, reaching 1.2m and resembling a giant dandelion. Attracting many pollinators, the golden cetonia loves its pollen. Suitable for picking for bouquets. Flowers from the second year from June to August. It is drought-resistant, its water needs are limited and requires little maintenance: cut dried stems once a year. Sowing the large-headed knapweed Sow under cover in March-April at 20°C, keep moist. Transplant into a pot at the 3cm seedling stage, grow in a pot at 15/18°C and plant 80cm apart. Plant in March-April or September-October. Sowing possible at the end of April/May or August/September directly in place. Keep moist and thin to 80cm. Maintenance Pinch young plants if necessary to encourage branching. Remove faded flowers, and you can cut back the plants at the end of flowering to encourage them to flower again. Divide the plants approximately every 4 years. Flowering: June to August.
