The edible honeysuckle 'Red Wood', also known as 'Mayberry', is a shrubby and attractive variety in many ways. It is distinguished by its elongated fruits, similar to those of the Kamtschatika variety, and by its decorative red wood, adding an aesthetic touch to the garden.
Redwood is particularly popular for making jams, thanks to its tangy and fruity fruits. However, to achieve optimal fruiting, it is crucial to plant it in a location where it does not receive direct sunlight, as its leaves are susceptible to burn caused by excessive exposure to sunlight.

It prefers fertile, moist soils to thrive. Note that it requires cross-pollination to fruit effectively, and it is recommended to plant it alongside varieties like 'Edulis' or 'Kamtschatika' to ensure good pollination.

The fruit of the Baie de Mai, with its tangy and fruity flavor, can be enjoyed fresh or used to make delicious jams.
