CUCUMBER MARKETMORE AB
Cucumis sativus
The Marketmore Cucumber (Marketmore 76 variety) is an early and productive variety, producing 20-25 cm fruits with thin , smooth skin. Its flesh is firm and crisp , with few seeds and a very pleasant flavor, without bitterness.
Sowing
Sow from March to May in pots , then transplant into healthy , fresh , loose and humus-rich soil when the plant has 3 leaves and frost is no longer a risk.
The spacing should be 0.60 m , in rows spaced 1.30 m apart, in a sunny and warm location . Regular watering to maintain humidity.
Trick
Most cucumber varieties are so-called "runners" , producing long stems that easily take up 2-3 m² , which can be impractical for small vegetable gardens. However, you can get around this problem by encouraging your plants to grow taller , for example, by training them to climb a wire mesh.
Help your plants position themselves on their support, and the cucumber tendrils will do the rest. This simple and practical method gives the fruit better exposure to light, protects it from moisture, and makes harvesting much easier. It's also effective for gherkins !
