An aquatic or semi-aquatic perennial plant, watercress can be used in salads, soups, sauces, etc. It is rich in various vitamins and minerals.

Culture

It can be sown under cover with potting soil and compost, keeping everything very moist. It can also be planted either in the ground with regular watering, or in a floodable basin, where the water will need to be renewed.

Sowing

In March-April for sowing under cover.

From May to July for sowing in place.
Frequent watering throughout the growing season.

Harvest

Harvest when the shoots reach about ten cm in height. Remove the branches ready to flower to stimulate the growth of new branches, in order to prevent the leaves from becoming bitter.
