The large-flowered gladiolus 'Black Surprise' is a spectacular variety that captivates with its intense dark red flowers with almost black highlights . Its elegant and mysterious appearance makes it a perfect choice for adding a dramatic and sophisticated touch to the garden.

Reaching 110 to 120 cm in height , it is ideal for flowerbeds, borders and even growing in pots. Its gradual flowering, from the bottom to the top of the stem, guarantees a striking visual effect throughout the summer . In addition to being a real asset in the garden, 'Black Surprise' is an excellent cut flower , with a long vase life. Easy to grow, it thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained soil. A must-have choice for those looking for an elegant and captivating flower!

Planting gladioli

Plant the bulbs in moist soil 8-10 cm deep and 10-15 cm apart. You can plant as early as mid-autumn for early spring flowering (still protect the vegetation with dead leaves or straw) or in spring for late spring and summer flowering. Water regularly as the plant does not tolerate drought well. Don't hesitate to anticipate possible insect attacks (thrips, etc.) with a preventative treatment, especially as summer approaches.
