Celtuce lettuce
Celtuce lettuce produces long, very narrow, lanceolate leaves that never form heads. The stems are thick and swollen, and are used as a vegetable (similar to asparagus) when they are about 30 cm tall. The leaves can also be eaten as a classic salad.
Sowing and cultivation
Sowing : from March to June, in nurseries, then transplant when the plants have a few leaves, in a sunny location in fertile, humus-rich and fresh soil, spaced 25 cm apart, in rows 30 cm apart.
Harvest : approximately 2 months after sowing.
