Successful Sowing of Lavender

Lavender needs a moist, warm environment and time to germinate.

To facilitate germination, we recommend soaking the seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water.
Lavender seeds germinate slowly and heterogeneously, taking 2 to 4 weeks and up to 2 to 3 months to germinate.
Sow your lavender seeds in spring in seed compost and place in a moist, warm environment ( 20°C day and night ). Ideally, use a heating mat. Air in the morning and evening.
Moisten the potting soil in the morning without soaking it with a spray bottle.
As soon as the first lavender shoots appear, uncover your seedlings and place them in a well-lit place for 12 hours a day .
Transplant into pots when the first true leaves appear, then take them outside during the day to allow them to adapt to the outdoors. Plant out in the garden when the seedlings are about 10 cm tall.

Lavender Plantation

Plant young plants reaching about 10 cm in the garden in a sunny location, keeping 30 to 60 cm between plants.

Lavender cultivation

Lavender is very drought -resistant. We still recommend watering at the base during the first year when the soil is dry.
Prune your plants at the end of winter.
