Corn was the staple food of the peoples of the "New World." It's a shame that today, we're neglecting this cereal and only consuming a few varieties of sweetcorn or popcorn. Reserve a little space in your vegetable garden for old varieties and rediscover the taste and flavor of traditionally grown varieties.

This is an old variety that produces 25-30 cm ears with sweet, multicolored grains that give plants of good size, up to 3 meters in height. Very tasty, the grains appear in several colors (white, red, golden yellow): a non-perishable "bouquet" with astonishing colors. This very ornamental variety is also edible.
A charming decor for your home.

Sowing: in May, in a sunny, sheltered location, 3 to 4 seeds per seedling, 40 cm apart, in rows 70 cm apart. Leave only the best-looking plant, hill up the plants when they reach a height of 15 to 20 cm. Watering.

Tip: combine corn and beans!
Many gardeners are smart about growing their beans on corn plants. Corn grows tall, straight, and is firmly anchored in the soil. Pole beans, as well as pickles and cucumbers, will find it a faithful ally for growing serenely toward the tops. Sorghum, which requires less water, can also serve this purpose as a "living stake."
