How to successfully sow phlox sugar stars

Sow in March-April in pots of fine seed compost. Phlox seeds need darkness to germinate, so sow them 3-4 mm deep. Press lightly.
Water and keep moist until emergence.
Place the seedlings in a sheltered greenhouse or under a frame with sunny exposure.

It is possible to sow directly in the garden from May to June. Sow by broadcasting or in pockets and cover with 3-4 mm of fine seed compost. Keep moist. Thin out to leave 15-20 cm between plants.
