SPECIAL BOTTLE TRAP FOR PINE PROCESSIONARY CATERPILLAR
This trap is a 100% natural solution that provides an ecological response to combat pine processionary caterpillars. Placed on the trunk of the tree, the trap intercepts the caterpillars as they descend along the trunk, in a long single file (in procession) to reach the ground where they will bury themselves. Quick installation without any tools. Adapts to the trunk thanks to its modules that allow several diameters to be created (between 10 and 30 cm in diameter). The trap can be reused the following year. How to use the special pine processionary caterpillar bottle trap? Use between December and May.1. Calculate the diameter of the trunk then refer to the table on the box to know the number of modules required for installation.2. Assemble the modules3. Cut the brush4. Attach the flexible brush to the plastic modules using the notches provided for this purpose. 5. Place all the assembled modules around the trunk and close using the clip by slightly overlapping the bristles of the brush 2 placement options: - on the ground: position the assembly at a height that will allow the bottle used to collect the caterpillars to be placed on the ground (approximately 40 cm) - at a height: approximately 2 m to avoid any contact with animals or children .6. Obtain an empty 5 L plastic bottle. Fill it halfway with soil or compost and insert the pipe. The beveled part must remain free (at soil level). 7. Screw the assembly to the neck of the bottle holder 8. Secure the bottle with the tightening tie. Tips: Once in place, check that no space is visible between the bark and the trap. The brush must be applied against the trunk to make a watertight seal and prevent caterpillars from escaping. If necessary, move the trap to a height where the trunk is more uniform or plane the bark a little. To remove trapped caterpillars: Once the trapping period is over, remove the bottle. Pour hot water (60°C) into the bottle to destroy the stinging protein and discard.
