Description

Misato red radish is a variety of red radish native to China with a very mild flavor. Its red color and white flesh lend beautiful colors to mixed salads. It can measure up to 13 cm in diameter.
Misato red radish is very popular in Japan. It can be eaten raw in salads or simply sliced thinly with salt, butter, and bread. Cooked, it can be used as a substitute for purple turnips.
To preserve the red color of the Misato red radish during cooking, it is recommended to sprinkle it with lemon juice.

How to successfully sow Misato red radish

Sowing: light from July to September, broadcast in rows spaced 25 cm apart in loose, rich, fresh soil in a sunny location, then thin out to about 1 cm in the rows. Cover with 1 cm of potting soil. Pack lightly. Thin out.
Remove weeds as soon as they appear. Water frequently to prevent the radishes from becoming too prickly or overgrown.

It is entirely possible to grow radishes in a planter, but be careful with watering.

Harvesting radishes

Harvesting generally takes place from September to December.
Use the tops to make radish top soup.
