Description
A hardy perennial (-15°C) with deciduous foliage and a bushy habit, producing numerous very airy, nectar-rich and fragrant purple, mauve, pink or white flowers throughout the summer. It is not very demanding and will appreciate fresh, drained soil and a sunny to semi-shaded position in a bed. These magnificent flowers in fresh bouquets are edible and can be used to flavor drinks.
Height: 30 to 80 cm.
How to successfully sow purple scabious
Sow under cover, in a tray in February-March or directly in the open ground from April to June, broadcast in rich, fresh, well-drained soil. Sow at 15-20°C. Keep moist until emergence. Emergence in 10 to 15 days.
Scabious flowering
Flowers appear from June until the frosts in October.
