Verbena bonariensis
Buenos Aires verbena is an undemanding perennial plant , offering airy blooms in purple tones , bringing a lot of elegance to the garden. Very melliferous , this verbena enters a dormant period during flowering if the drought is too severe. It reseeds easily and is superb in beds , as well as in fresh or dried bouquets.
Sowing Buenos Aires verbena
Sowing : Sow in a warm place in March in a terrine , in a mixture of half potting soil and half sand . Sow at a depth equal to the diameter of the seed and keep moist until emergence .
You can also sow directly in place in April .
Planting Buenos Aires verbena in the garden
Buenos Aires verbena will appreciate a sunny exposure and a light , drained soil, although it will prefer a fresh , humus- rich soil. Keep 40 to 50 cm between plants.
It fears stagnant winter humidity and overly windy places.
Pinch the plant regularly so that it branches out.
Buenos Aires verbena will also grow very well in a pot provided it is deep .
