The German medlar is a deciduous shrub, with beautiful flowers and beautiful foliage producing beautiful round fruits of 3.4 cm, brownish, hairy with large seeds. Medlars are eaten chard, after frost they lose their astringency and take on a sweet taste. Eaten raw chard, delicious with cheese or cooked in jellies, jams.
