Allium fistulosum
Productive variety of the stem onion type, not forming a bulb , but a 30 cm white barrel . Heat resistant , its fine and surprising flavor perfumes exotic dishes and is ideal in salads or tempura .
Sowing
Sowing from February to October
When the young plants are the size of a pen , transplant them.
Spring sowing
Sow thinly , in place, from February to April , in rows spaced 25 to 30 cm apart.
Thin out about 2 and a half months after sowing , first to 5 cm , then a few weeks later to 10 cm .
Autumn sowing
In a nursery , in August/September , then transplant in October/November for regions with a mild climate , and in February/March for the coldest regions .
Growing conditions
Onions need light, loose, fertile soil . Choose a sunny location and avoid damp soil .
To prevent diseases, provide well-rotted manure and regularly apply foliar fertilization with lithothamnium , as well as spraying with Bordeaux mixture .
